The Matrix 6" Action Figures
from N2 Toys
The initial set is comprised of Agent Smith, Cypher, Neo, Switch, Morpheus, and Trinity. Exclusive figures include Trinity with black coat, Agent Smith with Matrix code, and Trinity without sunglasses.
The Good:
They're from The Matrix. Do you need more than that? Oh, ok.
Each figure has well executed clothing, based on the way they looked "in the Matrix". Each figure also comes with multiple well-detailed weapons, for example, Neo comes with two pistols and two MP5Ks which are incredibly close to scale. The coats are all seperate non-removeable vinyl pieces, and Neo's coat has a great flowing pose to it.
The Bad:
There's not a lot bad to say about this series. Neo's knee joints tend to get weak if you move him too much. With the weight of his coat, you may need to prop him up. I recommend using the figure stands available from the McFarlane Toys Collector's Club ($5 per 15) for the entire set. The only other thing would be some of the figures that were not made and aren't planned. I would really like to have Mouse (with the two guns he's holding when he dies), Dozer, Oracle (with the "there is no spoon" kid and cookie tray), the "Lady in Red", and some generic Agents, SWATs, and lobby guards. However, the SWAT types can be filled in nicely with ReSaurus' new Special Forces line.
The Ugly Truth:
Rating: 5 - What are you waiting for? BUY IT NOW!
These figures should be in every collector's trophy case. N2 Toys has done a fantastic job on it's first high-profile license. I can't wait to see the second series, which is set to inclde Tank, Trinity (in "high-kick" pose with stand), and Neo (in civilian clothes and naval probe). There will also be a two-pack that has Neo and Agent Smith along with a special stand that will let you pose them in the mid-air fight from the subway station.
Special Editions:
There have been three exclusive The Matrix figures to date:
- Agent Smith with matrix code - This figure is available exclusively through Diamond Comic Distributors. It is the same as the Agent Smith figure, but cast in a smoked clear plastic with green code characters painted on it to resemble the way Neo saw him in the end. It can be found at most comic shops and Fandom Shop.
- Trinity with black coat - This figure is available exclusively from Fandom Shop. It is basically the Switch body, with the clothes done in black, and the Trinity head.
- Trinity without sunglasses - This figure is available exclusively from Toyfare. It is same as the Trinity figure, but with a resculpted head, so her eyes are visible.
