- | M41-A Pulse Rifle M40/M51A Grenades
Dean Overaker has informed me of the following replicas he has available. If you would like to get more information about these replicas, please e-mail him. Images below are © Dean Overaker, and used here with written permission.
There are some things that just can't be properly reproduced in any medium other than metal. A good example of this is the M40 Grenade, which was used in the Pulse Rifle in ALIENS. However, if you're like me, turning metal just isn't something that you want to tackle. Thankfully, Dean Overaker has stepped up to the plate to take care of this for us. He has produced an excellent quality replica of the M40 in turned aluminum. It is scaled to match a 12-gauge shotgun shell, and features a removable cap and operating push button "detonator". You can order it with or without engraving on the bottom. Shipping is available via USPS. Dean is also working on an AEG AirSoft ALIENS Pulse Rifle for himself. He has already decided to go with the Maruzen Gas M870 Shorty to reproduce the grenade launcher. To this end, he has also created a version of the M40 Grenade which has been slightly re-scaled to work with the M870. I already have two of M40s scaled to a 12-gauge, and I plan to pick up a few more. Once I decide whether to proceed on my Pulse Rifle with the Maruzen Gas M870 Shorty (to allow for shell cycling) or the Marui Spring SPAS-12 (to avoid the problems of Gas), I will be getting with Dean on producing a version of the M40 for this purpose. This is a must have for any fan of ALIENS, and especially anyone wishing to have or create the ALIENS Pulse Rifle in full-scale. Update - March 15, 2001 Dean has started producing a variant of the M40 Pulse Rifle Grenade (shown with red caps). The new M51A Pulse Rifle Grenades (shown with blue caps) are based on a design featured in Derrick Baena's must-have Pulse Rifle Manual. This new design features the same high quality construction as the previous release, including turned aluminum body, working push button, and colored plastic cap.
