Starship Troopers 2: With all the talk going around, its time to set a few things straight about this direct-to-video sequel. Shooting began last week in LA, Phil Tippet's directing and Jon Davison is producing it - that's already well known. Not so widely talked about though is the budget - a rather tight $6 million compared to the $100+ million that the original was, whilst there's only 26 or so shooting days. Also, cinematographer Christian Sebaldt talked about the movie recently to sst2 and its worth checking out. Thanks to 'Sapphire Man'.

Starship Troopers 2: 'Jon Movie Man' was on-set of the sci-fi sequel and has this exclusive report with all sorts of plot spoilers: "It takes place 5 years after the first movie, the opening scenes are of the propaganda commercial stating why you should join the Federation Troopers, lots of scenes of Troopers running and then a scene that is a copy of the Iwo Jima flag lifting. Immediately cuts to planet Zulu where the troopers are surrounded on a cliff by bugs and they are blasting away and are told to retreat. Nearly 3/4 of the troopers are killed as they retreat towards an abandoned military base. They arrive at the base and get no response from the Federation when they ask for evacuation and pick up, meaning they are stranded there. There is also a subplot that the bugs have engendered a virus that infects some of the troopers and the bugs are trying to get the infection to go all the way up to the heads of the Federation. This virus turns its victims into Zombies of sorts"
