On the set of Camp Curie. In Fountain Valley's Mile-Square Park. (add)... At Camp Curie, the trainees wore variations of everything they were issued. The sweatshirts were to give the illusion of a cooler climate. It was actually 110-degrees in the shade! The "macho" guys would not take water often enough. Then they realized it was "less macho" to pass out on set. We had a "chill tent" with tornado blowers... The jackets are made from codura nylon, and don't "breathe". The armor is EST-40... rubber.
The scene at "Tango Urilla" was filmed in Hell's Half Acre... a desert. For safety (OSHA... right), they did not wear their jackets or gorgets. This was worked into the script to give the illusion that it was warmer there than at Planet-P, etc. And of course, to show off their tattoos!
